Prep roundup: North's Houle headed to state swimming

Rob Houle will represent the Glenbard North boys swimming team at this weekend’s state meet after qualifying in a pair of events at Saturday’s St. Charles North sectional.

The senior won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.64 and also placed second in the 100-freestyle after touching the wall in 47.97. The state meet takes place today and Saturday at Evanston High School.

As a team, the Panthers finished in sixth place at the sectional with 99 points.

BOYS SWIMMING

West Chicago

Competing at Saturday’s St. Charles North sectional, the Wildcats came in fourth place with 127 points and had one individual qualify for the IHSA state meet in a pair of events.

Senior Alex Laleian punched his ticket to state by finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:44.03 and third in the 200 freestyle with a clocking of 1:44.27.

The Panthers ended the 2013-14 season with a hard-fought 39-33 loss to No. 2 sectional seed Downers Grove North in a Class 4A York regional semifinal on Feb. 19.
