Addison sports bar to host fundraiser for kidney transplant

Published: Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 1:56 p.m. CDT

ADDISON – Pyramid Sports Bar in Addison will host a fundraiser for a Lake in the Hills man who needs a kidney transplant.

Patrick Turchan has polycystic kidney disease, a hereditary illness, and his kidneys have started to fail during the past year. His grandmother, mother and brother all have died from complications related to polycystic kidney disease.

Patrick's wife, Teresa, is a match and will donate her kidney March 6, but the transplant and related costs are expensive. The average kidney transplant costs about $250,000 in addition to a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications, according to a National Foundation for Transplants news release.

The foundation is a nonprofit that helps patients raise funds to pay for transplant-related expenses.

The lunch and raffle fundraiser will begin at 1 p.m. March 2 at Pyramid Sports Bar, 236 West Lake St.

Admission costs $25 per person, and children are free. Secure donations can be made online at www.transplants.org. Select "Find an NFT Patient" to locate Turchan.

For more information, contact Jenny Turchan at 630-202-6014 or jturch7@yahoo.com.
