NAPERVILLE – Specialty grocer Fresh Thyme Farmers Markets will open a Naperville location in 2015 as part of a regional rollout plan to establish more than 60 stores and create about 5,000 jobs in the Midwest during the next five years, according to a news release from the chain.
“We’ve taken the experience of an outdoor farmers market and combined it with the convenience of a full-service grocery store,” said Fresh Thyme President and CEO Chris Sherrell in the release. “Shoppers will enjoy value priced natural and organic items throughout our store, making healthy food more attainable to the masses.”
Fresh Thyme’s first store will open in the spring in Mount Prospect, followed by eight additional openings in 2014, the release states.
The address of the Naperville store has not yet been specified, according to the release.
The chain’s 28,000-square-foot markets will focus on locally sourced and organic produce, the release states.
Additional features include:
• Small batch roasted coffee beans
• A butcher shop with more than a dozen varieties of all-natural handmade sausage
• Specialty gluten-free and dairy-free items
• Prepared salads and meals
• A full salad bar
• Made-to-order sandwiches
• More than 7,000 types of vitamins, supplements and natural body care products.
Twenty three of the 60 locations have already been announced, according to the release.
