BENSENVILLE – A second person is charged in the Jan. 19 fatal shooting of Bensenville convenience store clerk Hussein Saghir, according to media reports.

Tremayne Davis, 23, of the 1400 block of North Lotus Avenue, Chicago, faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and obstructing justice, reports state.

Saghir, 36, and another employee were exiting Sam's Tobacco and Food Mart, 235 W. Irving Park Road, at about 6 p.m. when they were confronted by two men, according to a news release from the Bensenville Police Department. During a brief struggle, one of the men shot at Saghir before both fled on foot eastbound.

Saghir was found on the ground in front of the store, the release said. He was transported to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police offered a $10,000 reward Feb. 6 for information leading to the identification, arrest, prosecution and conviction of the suspects, according to the release.

Kenneth Bardlett, 20, of 49th Avenue, Bellwood, was previously charged with one count of first-degree murder for the encounter, according to a news release from DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin and Bensenville Chief of Police Frank Kosman.

He was held on a $2.5 million bail, according to media reports, but was not believed to be the gunman.

Officials have indicated the incident was an attempted robbery, reports state.

Davis will appear in bond court Sunday morning, according to reports.
