RIVERSIDE – The Riverside Police Department announced that a soft lockdown was lifted at Riverside Brookfield High School at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Riverside police said they received information from the Brookfield Police Department earlier in the day about a nonspecific threat anonymously reported to police that a subject armed with a handgun was going to shoot high school students. Police said no exact date or location was given with the tip.

In a community alert, the Riverside Police Department announced that Riverside Brookfield High School was placed in a soft lockdown as of 1:30 p.m. Friday.

As a precautionary measure, the police department and school administrators put the school on a soft lockdown with police personnel stationed at the school to make sure students stayed safe.

Riverside police said the incident is being investigated by numerous law enforcement agencies and more information would be available later.
