Boy Scouts from Downers Grove are interviewed by reporter Matt Piechalak during their visit Friday to the Suburban Life Media newsroom in Downers Grove.

DOWNERS GROVE – Downers Grove Boy Scout Troop 181 visited the Suburban Life Media newsroom Friday afternoon to learn how their hometown newspaper is put together.

Six Scouts, who attend Pierce Downer Elementary School, made the field trip to the newspaper office, located at 1101 W. 31st St. in Downers Grove. The group of boys learned how news stories are researched and written, and also how the stories are put together to form an edition of the newspaper.

The Scouts are working to achieve their Bear badge, and their goal for the day was to visit a newspaper office.

The boys all agreed that they love being Boy Scouts.

"We get to do crazy stuff like going camping," said 8-year-old Tyler Schumacher.

Cameron Beechler, 9, agreed.

"We get to go on adventures," he said.
