WESTMONT – The Westmont Special Events Corporation recently solidified plans for a pair of popular summer 2014 events, and is currently gathering volunteers and organizing corporate sponsors.
“There are plenty of opportunities to participate in this year’s events,” Westmont Special Events Corporation Office Manager Kristine Turano said.
“The Taste and Street Fair will bring in over 45,000 guests this year, so it’s a great opportunity for businesses to get involved, be a sponsor, and promote their products and services to new customers. Residents can get involved by being a volunteer.”
The Taste of Westmont will be held from July 10 to 13 on Cass Avenue, from Chicago Avenue to Burlington Avenue, in downtown Westmont.
The theme for this year’s Taste of Westmont is “wild hair” and will feature different “wild hair” contests throughout the weekend. Summer staples such as carnival rides and games, a beer garden and a craft show will also return to the 2014 event.
The Westmont Street Fair will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursdays in June, July and August. The 19th annual Crusin’ Nights will be returning to the street fair as well as live music, a host of activities and the third annual Westmont Market, which will feature fresh fruits and vegetables and an assortment of craft and artisan vendors.
The Westmont Special Events Corporation is currently seeking sponsors, commercial vendors, crafters and market vendors for the summer events.
Local businesses are welcome to make a donation, sign up for a booth, or sponsor a contest or activity. The Westmont events committee is also open to tailoring sponsorships toward individual businesses.
Additionally, the Westmont Special Events Corporation is also seeking volunteers to work in two-hour shifts at the Taste of Westmont or help on a committee.
