ELMHURST – Champions of the Suburban Christian Gold conference, IC Catholic’s boys basketball team will look to continue that success when the playoffs start Tuesday.

IC Catholic

Class: 2A

Regional: Aurora Christian

Sectional: Bureau Valley

Seed: No. 1

First game: 6 p.m. Tuesday vs. No. 4 Lisle or No. 5 Westmont

Outlook: Sophomore Rhashaun Epting is averaging just over 20 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game, both team highs. Senior guard Clark Brinkman is the team’s only other double digit scorer at 12.4 points per game.

The Knights won more than 20 games each of the past two seasons, but both teams lost regional finals by two points. This year’s Knights hope to win the program’s first regional title since 2008. IC is a No. 1 seed in a regional for the third straight year, but has tough competition. No. 2 St. Edward split two games with IC before tonight’s regular season finale, and No. 3 Aurora Christian knocked off the Knights Wednesday.
