THUMBS UP: Good luck to the men and women who excepted the Ton of Fun challenge through Fleet Feet Sports Elmhurst. The 12-week program with 80 participants started Jan. 2 with the goal to lose a ton of weight, or 2,000 pounds, among all participants in the Chicago area. As of last week, the Elmhurst team had lost a total of 396 pounds or 2.5 percent of its combined body weight.

THUMBS UP: This one is for the 2,300 homes positively affected by the projects City Council recently approved. The Southwest Elmhurst Wet-Weather Control Facility upgrades are expected to reduce sewer backups for those residents. When it comes to flood mitigation in Elmhurst, any progress is welcomed.
