Relief on the way? Weather service says upper 40s likely next week, but flooding possible

Mild temperatures in the forecast for next week could come with a catch: flooding.

The National Weather Service is forecasting above average temperatures from Wednesday to Friday, but if snow and ice melt is too rapid, flooding could occur.

In addition to more than a foot of snow on the ground, the frozen ground has frost depths of 8 to 20 inches deep and rivers are swollen with ice, the NWS says.

The NWS will update its site as the forecast for next week becomes clearer.
