Prairie School of DuPage receives national certification from Arbor Day Foundation

Published: Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 3:05 p.m. CDT

The Prairie School of DuPage has earned national certification as a Nature Explore Classroom from Dimensions Educational Research Foundation and the Arbor Day Foundation, according to a news release from the organization.

Located at 1926 N. Main St. in Wheaton, the Prairie School of DuPage was recognized for creating effective nature-based outdoor learning environments for children, and is part of a growing number of similar organizations that have been certified.

The Nature Explore program was developed in response to the growing disconnect between children and nature, the release said. The classrooms aim to integrate research-based outdoor learning activities into children's daily lives.
