Stickney man charged after shooting gun in the air

STICKNEY – A Stickney man was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm following an incident in the early morning hours of Feb. 9.

Police were called to the residence of Robert Dietrich, 49, of the 4200 block of Wenonah Avenue, after a report of shots being fired during a fight in front of the home. Dietrich ran into his house, retrieved a handgun and fired it six times in the air, police said. Police retrieved all six shell casings at the scene.

No one was injured.

Dietrich has a valid Illinois Firearms Owners Identification Card, police said.
