Asphalt on side streets was just starting to peak through the layer of packed slush Saturday morning as snow flakes began to fall lightly across the western suburbs.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook in DuPage and Cook counties, forecasting 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation throughout the day and overnight.

Temperatures should reach into the low 20s both days this weekend with sunny skies opening up Sunday.
