WOODRIDGE – A former Woodridge trainer who sexually abused a 16-year-old athlete in 2012 was sentenced to four years in prison Wednesday, according to media reports.

He pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a class 2 felony, in December.

The family of the victim has filed a lawsuit against Theodore and the fitness center, alleging that it failed do a background check on Theodore, who in the 1980s was convicted of attempted sexual abuse of an 11-year-old in Arizona, according to media reports. The lawsuit is pending.
