ADDISON – An Addison woman pleaded guilty Thursday in court to stabbing her 3-year-old son in the neck, according to media reports.

Sameera Samreen, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated battery of a child. She allegedly stabbed her son with a kitchen knife on March 31, 2012 after cutting her own neck and wrist. When the child screamed, she stopped and applied pressure to his neck, according to reports.

She reportedly told officers two masked men had broken into her home before confessing she was depressed and wanted to die with her son. The event happened the same weekend Samreen's ex-husband remarried, according to reports.

The boy survived and lives with his paternal grandmother. In exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors will cap their sentence recommendation at 15 years, requiring her to register for 10 years as someone who committed violence against a youth. Judge Blanche Hill Fawell will sentence Samreen April 14, according to reports.
