DuPage County Stormwater Management to host green infrastructure symposium

The Conservation Foundation and DuPage County Stormwater Management will host a free symposium to help businesses pursue green infrastructure options, according to a county news release.

The presentation will take place from 7:45 to 11:45 a.m. Feb. 27 at North Central College's White Activity Center, 325 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. It is designed to provide a starting point for contractors to learn about permeable pavers, green roofs and rainwater harvesting, which can reduce flooding by increasing stormwater absorption, the release said. Guest speakers and vendors will attend.

"The county works closely with municipalities to encourage green infrastructure in public projects, so it's a natural transition to begin the conversation with contractors," said Stormwater Management Planning Committee Chairman Jim Zay, in the release. "The benefit of these practices for private projects are tremendous."
