THUMBS UP: An Elmhurst band, The Orwells, made quite an impression when it performed on "Late Show with David Letterman" last month, prompting Letterman to demand an encore. While the five York High School graduates – Matt O'Keefe, Dominic Corso, Mario Cuomo, Grant Brinner and Henry Brinner – weren't prepared to play another song, they should have a full set list ready April 1 at Lincoln Hall in Chicago.

THUMBS UP: The City Council took a big step forward on a long-debated issue when it selected a developer for the Hahn Street Redevelopment in downtown Elmhurst. The city now will negotiate with Morningside Group for a proposed six-story structure that will feature apartments above first-floor retail, along with public parking and green space.
