ELMHURST – As is tradition, Chick-fil-A will offer 100 free meals for a year at the store's grand opening this week in Elmhurst.
According to the Chick-fil-A website, participants must be 18 or older to qualify. Those trying to claim a spot in the First 100 should arrive at the restaurant at 6 a.m. Wednesday. If more than 100 people are present, qualified and prepared to set up camp for the next 24 hours, the First 100 will be selected via a random drawing.
Participants are allowed a maximum of five guests who all must be at least 5 years old.
Once chosen, participants must remain in their designated spot on the premises until the grand opening Thursday morning.
The First 100 will win one Chick-fil-A meal, consisting of a chicken sandwich, medium waffle potato fries and a medium drink once a week for a year.
In addition, the restaurant will host a food drive Wednesday for the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry. Anyone dropping off five or more nonperishable food items between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich.
The First 100 participants are also asked to encourage friends and family to bring donations. The First 100 participant who generates the most additional donations will win an extra prize.
The new store is expected to bring 65 jobs to Elmhurst.
