Farm Bureau to host shopping cart race, donate groceries

CAROL STREAM – The DuPage County Farm Bureau will hold its 2014 recognition of National Food Check-Out Week at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 13 at Carol Stream Jewel Osco at the corner of Army Trail and County Farm roads, according to a bureau news release.

The event will feature a 10-minute shopping cart race re-match between last year's winner and Executive Director of the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce Luanne Newman and Community Consolidated School District 93 Director for Community Relations Ryan McPherrin.

All groceries gathered by the contestants during the race will be purchased by the bureau and donated to the Humanitarian Service Project and the Neighborhood Food Pantry at the Lutheran Church of the Master.

The recognition is sponsored by the Farm Bureau Women's Committee.
