LA GRANGE – York is winning in a number of different ways this season and that's why they are leading the West Suburban Silver.

Thanks to a career-high 30 points from Jayvon Thomas and a clutch 3-pointer from Charlie Rose, the Dukes somehow managed to add a 70-62 overtime win at Lyons Township Saturday to the list of victories.

Thomas has only started in a handful of games this season, but with star forward Frank Toohey in foul trouble York (21-2, 8-0 West Suburban Silver) needed to get its offense from another source.

"We usually pound it inside, but Frank got in foul trouble so somebody else had to step up," Thomas said. "It was just me to step up tonight."

Thomas' 14 points in the first half was nearly matched by LT's Harrison Niego, who had 13 at the break to help the Lions (12-8, 4-4 WSS) to a 33-31 halftime advantage. Niego was limited to three points the rest of the way and didn't score in the fourth quarter or overtime.

The teams went back and forth in the second half. The Lions led 59-56 after Jim Cullen (10 points) sank two free throws with 28 seconds left. Rose (11 points) nailed a 3-pointer to tie the score and Cullen missed a layup attempt with four seconds left to send the game to overtime.

The overtime was all York. The Dukes scored the first 11 points of the OT.

"I feel bad for the kids to have to walk out of here after this game and have it be a loss because they really played hard enough and well enough to get a win," LT coach Tom Sloan said.

The Lions lost to Glenbard West in overtime Friday night. All three of LT's home losses this season have come in overtime.
