Woodridge Special Events to offer eighth-grade students scholarship

WOODRIDGE – The Woodridge Special Events Committee will sponsor its first scholarship for incoming high school freshmen.

The Community Service Scholarship will be presented to a current eighth-grade students in Woodridge and will be based on his or her involvement with community service. The WSEC's scholarship, in honor of founder Joel Kagann, will pay $500 for the winner's high school registration fees.

Students nominate themselves or can be nominated by schools or service organizations. Any eighth-grade student who helped the community can be a candidate.

To apply, call 630-963-4262 or visit the school offices at Jefferson Jr. High School, 7200 Janes Ave., or St. Scholastica, 7800 Janes Ave. Nominations must be in by March 31 and the winner will be announced by April 30.
