RIVERSIDE – It’s always at about this point in the year that winter begins to feel like it will never end: It’s been cold for so long, and you know there are still months to go.
Especially for those shoppers who enjoy getting outdoors to pick among the produce and wares at their local farmers market, winter is an awfully long season.
But rejoice! The Riverside Farmers Market actually returns this Wednesday with their new Winter Market and 11 vendors selling everything from fruit and eggs to tea blends and meats.
“We had a lot of interest from residents and shoppers about it continuing [in the winter months],” said Riverside resident and farmers market volunteer Deb Garman.
The Winter Market opens at 2:30 p.m. and runs through 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month, beginning Feb. 5 and continuing through May. The market will also be housed indoors at the Riverside train station, 90 Bloomingbank Road, to you don’t even have to shiver in the cold.
“it’s a cute market, very picturesque,” Garman said.
The regular outdoor market begins again in June, and according to Garman, organizers hoping to a few more weeks to the end of the season this year.
Garman said she expects turn out to be good, even during the colder months.
“I think there’s a lot of shopper loyalty here,” Garman said. “These are venders they know and see all summer. There’s a lot of fun to it.”
