It is with a great deal of pride that I draft my first Community Voice column as president of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. The chamber has become an integral part of the Brookfield community in recent years. I look forward to the challenge of enhancing the traditional community events that we sponsor, those that we work together with the village in planning, and in finding new ways in which we can help make Brookfield a great community to live in and a desirable one to operate a business in.
The first event is right around the corner with our annual Valentine’s Senior Social that will be held at Brookfield Village Hall on Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. Area seniors are encouraged to come by for snacks, beverages, music, dancing and a magic show. Each senior in attendance will also receive a gift bag of goodies to take home.
Looking ahead, our annual Street Dance will take place on May 17 from 5 to 11 p.m. on Broadway near the Eight Corners intersection. The Brookfield Farmers Market, consistently ranked one of the best in the region, will open soon after on June 7 at 8 a.m. behind Village Hall. Mark your calendars for both and check the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce website for additional information.
I’m fortunate to have a strong and dedicated group of individuals who will be serving on the chamber board as fellow officers and directors, and I also look forward to adding two new board members who can provide some fresh ideas and enthusiasm, so be sure and visit the Brookfield Chamber web site and our Facebook page often to see what’s new and what events are in the works.
We have recently established a membership committee to help grow the chamber, and to that end, I would like to invite any local businesses who are not yet chamber members to attend our next members meeting on Feb. 13 at The Sanctuary beginning at noon, to learn more about the benefits of chamber membership.
