The DuPage Children's Museum Board of Directors has announced that it has chosen a new president and CEO to fill the shoes of retiring 22-year president Susan E. Broad, according to a news release from the museum.

Sarah Orleans of Portland, Ore. will bring two decades of executive experience, including most recently eight years as the executive director of the Portland Children's Museum, the release said. During her tenure, the Portland museum saw its attendance grow to 320,000 visitors annually and created The Museum Center for Learning, which is dedicated to research and professional development for educators.

David Carpenter, the DuPage museum's board chairman, said in a statement that the museum staff was confident that Orleans would be able to take the museum to another level of success in its mission to build partnerships and educate.

"I am honored by the opportunity to join such a dynamic and highly regarded organization with a clear and focused mission to transform the learning landscape for young children," Orleans said in a statement. "DuPage Children's Museum has a rich history in this community and is recognized nationally for its work in early learning. I'm inspired by the deep commitment of the board, staff, volunteer community, members and donors to lead this world-class organization."
