Prep roundup: Tough win keeps York boys unbeaten in WSS

York’s boys basketball team remained undefeated in the West Suburban Silver, but it wasn’t an easy win. York defeated Oak Park-River Forest 64-62 last Friday.

The Huskies grabbed a 49-45 lead early in the fourth quarter, but York responded with a 15-5 run to take control.

Jayvon Thomas led the Dukes with 14 points and was one of four York players to score in double figures as the Dukes won their sixth straight game.



Three Dukes scored in double figures in a 57-51 win at Hinsdale Central on Saturday. Jessica Bianchi and Sarah Milkowski each scored 13 points, and Paige Wrasse added 10 points. York has won nine of 10 games and is 12-9, 4-5 in the West Suburban Silver.



Meghan Davidson was fourth in the all-around to help the Dukes take fifth out of 12 teams at their own invite on Saturday. Davidson totaled 35.25 points. Her best event was the uneven bars, on which she scored a 9.0 to take fourth in that event. Kelly Mordini was fourth on vault (9.075) and Jennifer Gentile was fourth on balance beam (9.175). Overall, York scored a 135.425.



The York poms qualified for state from the Glenbrook South sectional on Saturday by placing sixth Class 3A. The Dukes scored 79.7 points. State will be this weekend at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

IC Catholic

The Lady Knights’ dance team qualified for this weekend’s IHSA state finals by placing second the Class 1A Huntley sectional. IC scored 84.03 points, just behind sectional winner Aurora Central Catholic’s 85.3 points.
