Addison Trail junior forward Taylor White keyed a big weekend for the Blazers. His steal and layup in the final seconds against Morton gave AT an upset win against the Mustangs, the first in over 10 years, on Jan. 24. He led the Blazers with 14 points in that game and followed up with a team-high 18 points in a 77-57 win over District 88 rival Willowbrook on Saturday. White, the Oak Trust Credit Union Athlete of the Week, talked with Suburban Life sports reporter Dan Santaromita after the win against Morton.
What does the Morton win mean for your season?
This was one of the top teams in the conference. It was really nice to get a win against them.
Was that game one of your better varsity games overall?
Yeah, it’s probably one of my better games of the year. I made a couple mistakes, a couple turnovers I’d like to take back, but I like the result that we got.
Did the team’s experience in close games this season help you down the stretch against the Mustangs?
It’s happened so many times. We drill it all the time in practice situations like this. That definitely has a lot to do with it.
