The Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families – Saturday Series will present FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Completion and General Overview of Financial Aid workshops Feb. 1 and 8.
The FAFSA Completion Workshops will provide high school seniors and their parents with one-on-one assistance in English and Spanish to file their FAFSA.
Information required to file a FAFSA includes: the Social Security Number of the student and one parent or alien registration number if not a U.S. citizen; 2013 taxes or taxes from 2012, if 2013 not filed; driver's license numbers of both student and parent; records of any savings, including college savings programs, bonds, 529 plans or certificates of deposit; and month and year of parents' marriage, separation, divorce or other change in marital status.
The workshops will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 1 in the computer lab at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St. in Lombard, and from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 8 in the library at Glenbard West High School, 670 Crescent Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.
The General Overview of Financial Aid workshops will share information on getting financial aid for college, the types of aid available and more to families of freshman, sophomore and junior students.
These sessions will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 1 in the Glenbard East library and from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 8 in the Glenbard West auditiorium. A session in Spanish also will be offered, and free breakfast and babysitting will be provided.
Glenbard East Spanish teacher Janet Reece will present a workshopon Naviance, a web-based college application tool, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 1 at Glenbard East in room 250.
