WEST CHICAGO – The February meeting of West Chicago Sister Cities will focus on the familial relationship between West Chicago and its sister city, Taufkirchen (Vils) in Germany.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 and will feature Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce President and CEO David Sabathne at the Chamber of Commerce office, 306 Main St. in West Chicago.

The topic of Sabathne’s talk will be “So you want to talk about my Sister.” It will explore what makes West Chicago and its sister city different and yet strongly linked.

Sabathne was born and raised in West Chicago. He served as an alderman on the West Chicago City Council for 10 years, and was on the council when the Sister Cities program began.

In 2001, he spent 10 days visiting businesses in Taufkirchen (Vils), during which he learned about the local economy.

West Chicago Sister Cities, which strives to foster peace through education, culture and people-to-people exchanges, meets on the first Thursday of each month. To learn more about the organization, visit www.westchicagosistercities.com.
