LA GRANGE – Despite a snowstorm Jan. 18, La Grange residents were still committed to getting active this year through a series of events and programs offered by the Greater La Grange YMCA.

The YMCA, helped by the Community Park District of La Grange Park and Oasis Women’s Fitness and Spa, are trying hard to get La Grange Park named the Fittest City in the state this year.

The task kicked off with Get Active events Jan. 18, including a yoga class at the Park District, a zumba class at the YMCA and a discussion at the La Grange Park Library by Jim Keck of Kuma Health and Wellness Care about simple solutions to everyday health issues. The days events were concluded with a body weight workout at Oasis.

Attendees later gathered at Mattones restaurant in La Grange Park for food and socializing.

The Get Active group has events planned for the rest of the year, including a couples exercise event in February at Oasis.
