River business hosts snow sporting event
PORT BARRINGTON – Broken Oar Marina Bar & Grill in Port Barrington hosted its first Radar Run of the year on Jan. 19 and has had an unprecedented turnout at runs being held every Sunday.
Extreme winter weather this year has provided good snowmobile conditions on the lower Fox River, resulting in a increase of traffic compared to years past, according to Bonnie Miske, general manager of Broken Oar, located at 614 Rawson Bridge Road.
Snowmobilers from near and far come to test the 1/8-mile track at high speeds. Ribbons and prize money are awarded to the “best in sled.” Spectators line the river and the restaurant’s skydeck to watch from above.
