VILLA PARK - Reaching a season-high in points, the Wheaton North girls basketball team left it all out on the court in Saturday's 99-92 overtime loss to Hillcrest as part of the 24th Annual McDonald's Shootout at Willowbrook high school.
Trailing by three in the final moments of the fourth quarter, Emari Jones scored off an offensive rebound and Emmy Gryna split a pair of free throws following a steal with 2.3 seconds left to send the game into an extra session.
The Falcons jumped out to a five-point advantage in overtime before Hillcrest ended the contest on a 12-0 run.
Chrissy Baird totaled 24 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals and three blocked shots, Kelly Thornton posted 24 points and five rebounds and Gryna finished with 21 points. Emari Jones also checked into double figures with 12 points while adding eight assists and seven rebounds and Emily Barry contributed eight points and 13 rebounds.
Wheaton North, who will next play Wheaton Warrenville South on Thursday, fell to 13-7 on the season.
