Active-shooter drill scheduled for District 87 schools

Published: Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 4:43 p.m. CDT • Updated: Tuesday, July 29, 2014 9:49 p.m. CDT

Local law enforcement agencies will conduct a violent intruder drill Tuesday at all four Glenbard Township High School District 87 schools.

The drill will take place at Glenbard East in Lombard, Glenbard North in Carol Stream and Glenbard West and Glenbard South in Glen Ellyn. Students will not be present during the drills as Jan. 21 is an institute day in the district.

The drills are an important part of the district's crisis planning and comply with a new state law that requires schools to develop and conduct an active-shooter drill, according to a news release from the district.

They will be conducted during the morning hours and district officials are reminding parents that several emergency responder vehicles will be present at the buildings.

For more information, call the district office at 630-469-9100.
