Seguin’s Penguins take on Hauser Cougars in basketball benefit Jan. 30

RIVERSIDE – Hauser Junior High Cougars seventh and eighth grade basketball team will host the UCP Seguin Services Penguins basketball teams for the third annual exhibition basketball game and fundraiser.

The games begin at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 30, at the Hauser Junior High School Gym, 65 Woodside Road, Riverside.

The teams will compete to raise funds for UCP Seguin’s Special Olympics events throughout the year.

UCP Seguin basketball coach Lovie Twine said the UCP team loves the chance to compete with Hauser students every year and it gives her team extra practice before the Special Olympics tournaments.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support Special Olympic teams by purchasing equipment and paying for expenses incurred by traveling to competitions.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $1.

Last year’s event raised about $400.

UCP Seguin is a nonprofit agency, which provides services to children and adults with developmental disabilities and other special needs throughout metropolitan Chicago.
