Riverside's Quincy Street Distillery to host grand opening for Speakeasy bar Friday

Published: Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 1:43 p.m. CDT

RIVERSIDE – Care for a little sippin' whiskey this Friday? Or, perhaps your tastes lean more toward the classic cocktails of the 1920s?

Both will be on-hand this Friday at the grand opening of Quincy Street Distillery's new "Speakeasy" tasting bar, from 4 to 9 p.m. at 39 E. Quincy St.

In addition to drinks – made with the products of Quincy Street's stills – there will also be live music featuring a repertoire of popular tunes from the 1920s by Bob Opal on keyboards with some additional vocalists.

Cocktails will be served in pre-prohibition size singles – today's cocktails are doubles – in a smaller coupe glass that was common back in the day, according to owner Derrick Mancini.
