Search for principal continues

DARIEN – District 86 has come to grips with the news of Principal Brian Waterman’s move from Hinsdale South High School to Lyons Township and is ready to move forward in its search for a new leader.

At Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Superintendent Bruce Law said the district is accepting applications for the position and will begin reviewing those “soon.” The district isn’t alone in the decision process as residents have had the chance to weigh in on South’s next principal.

“We will have opportunities for the South community to meet, talk to and engage the finalists,” Law said. “They’ve already had the opportunity, just as they did at Central to provide input as to the characteristics they would like to see in the next principal.”

“My understanding is that it is seemingly moving forward quickly because we don’t want an interim there next year.”

School Board President Claudia Manley asked if the district was going to move forward quickly with hiring a new principal at Hinsdale South.

“We are trying to get this done in as expeditious a manner as possible,” Law responded.
