LISLE – After opening its doors to the Lisle community almost a year ago, one Lisle business continues to succeed at making clients feel beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.

Blend Beauty, 1045 Burlington Ave., a boutique skincare, makeup and hair studio, relocated from Lombard to Lisle in March 2013. Since then, its growth has surpassed the expectations of owner Cynthia Sally.

“I really didn’t expect it to be as big as it is to be honest,” Sally said. “I think a lot of it is that we are very results-based and we want everyone to feel good about themselves when they leave; not only on the outside, but on the inside.”

Sally, who grew up in Lisle and graduated from Lisle High School, said she relocated her business to expand its services and bring it closer to home.

The studio specializes in bridal and more than 60 weddings a year, Sally said.

“We go to [the bride’s] home or hotel to make sure it goes smoothly and is stress-free,” Sally said.

Now, after moving to Lisle, Blend Beauty is able to offer haircuts and styles, skincare, facials, body wraps, microderms, peels and waxing in addition to the bridal service.

“It’s been so great,” Sally said of moving her business to Lisle.

After graduating from high school, Sally received a certification from Make-up Designory in California, where she studied airbrush, beauty, character and special effects makeup.

She then returned to the Chicago area, where she freelanced as a makeup artist for nine years. In 2009, she selected a group of hair and makeup artist to begin her bridal business. After a few name changes, Blend Beauty was born.

Sally credits the Internet for her early success, as her clients would praise her work on wedding chat boards, in turn causing her to become “bombarded with wedding inquiries,” she said.

“I fell into the wedding industry since my sisters’ friends asked me to do makeup at their weddings and their friends asked me,” Sally said. “I kept getting reviews and more and more wanted me.”

Sally is also a licensed esthetician from the University of Aesthetics in Downers Grove, which she graduated from in 2012.

Part of Sally’s drive to expand her business was fueled by the loss of her parents, who passed away in 2012.

“It was a wakeup call that life is too short,” Sally said. “I wanted to do what I knew I would love – to own a full-service salon.”

Blend Beauty has been featured in online wedding blog Style Me Pretty and has won the WeddingWire Network’s Bride’s Choice Award, which is based on online reviews from brides who have utilized the studio’s services for the past three years, Sally said.

Her long-term goal is to eventually expand her business by hiring more stylists and artists and moving to a larger space in Lisle. She is also considering offering massage therapy in the future.

But for now, Sally is happy with the way her business has developed.

“We have a great energy in the studio space,” Sally said. “I definitely think our motto is to live a beautiful life. Most people leave smiling and that’s what we love.”
