CLARENDON HILLS – The Village of Clarendon Hills welcomed in a new police officer who was sworn in Monday at the village board meeting.

Alyson Mercer, 24, was chosen after the Clarendon Hills Police Commission completed its testing process and Mercer successfully completed all phases.

Mercer recently moved to the area from Round Lake Beach and holds an associate degree in criminal justice from the College of DuPage.

She is also a member of the Illinois National Guard and was deployed to Balkh Province, Afghanistan, as a military police officer from August 2012 to July 2013.

The latest hiring now brings the Clarendon Hills Police Department up to its full staffing of 13 officers.
