Tacos come to the rescue of tornado victims at an upcoming Riverside fundraiser.

RIVERSIDE – The mighty, delicious taco comes to the rescue yet again.

This time, tacos are not only fighting hunger pains but also raising funds to help communities in central Illinois that suffered devastating losses after being struck by tornadoes last year.

Ascension Lutheran Church in Riverside will host the event, Tacos to the Rescue, starting at 5 p.m. Saturday. The kitchen will close at 8 p.m., so attendees are encourage to come early and come hungry.

All are invited to bring their friends and family to enjoy build-your-own tacos, side dishes, margaritas and other treats. Pinatas will be available for children, too.

Tickets for the event cost $10 per person if purchased early or $12 if purchased at the door. Tickets for kids younger than 12 are $5. Additionally, tax-deductible sponsorships of any amount are available.

More information about sponsoring the event or to purchase tickets can be found by calling the church’s main office at 708-447-2600.

Ascension Lutheran Church is at 400 Nuttall Road across from Ames School.
