Carol Stream Citizen of the Year nominees announced

CAROL STREAM – The Carol Stream Citizen of the Year Committee recently announced the nominees for the 2013 Citizen of the Year Awards, according to a news release from the organization.

Female nominees for the volunteer award include Nancy Bagdonas of the Carol Stream Woman’s Club, Deb Czarnecki of Carol Stream CERT, Chantalle Phillips of the Carol Stream School PTA and Nadia Sheikh of Friends of the Carol Stream Library.

Male nominees are Ralph Armstrong of the Carol Stream 4th of July Parade Committee, Rich Becker of the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce and Terry Michaelsen of Carol Stream CERT.

Special Citizen of the Year nominees are Jacque Bartell of the Carol Stream Woman’s Club and Linda Keen of Carol Stream CERT for the female category and Steven Griffin of the Carol Stream Park District for the male category.

To be eligible for the Special Citizen of the Year Award, nominees must have volunteered in the community for five straight years.

The Judges Recognition Award for volunteer service in the village by someone who lives outside Carol Stream will be presented to Edward Zuniga of the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce.

The awards will be given at a banquet Feb. 8 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites of Carol Stream, 150 S. Gary Ave. Tickets are $35 per person.
