GLEN ELLYN – Glen Ellyn Village President Alex Demos will recommend longtime resident James Burket to fill the Village Board of Trustees vacancy left by former trustee Robert Friedberg, according to a village news release.
If the appointment is approved by the remaining trustees at their meeting Jan. 13, Burket will serve the rest of Friedberg's term, which ends May 2015.
Friedberg resigned from the board in December to pursue an out-of-state career opportunity.
“Mr. Burket would be an excellent addition to the Village Board for the residents of Glen Ellyn and would be a tremendous asset to the village in striving for financial responsibility and transparency," Demos said in the release.
Burket has lived in Glen Ellyn since 1994 with his wife of 23 years, Kathy, and two teenage sons, Rollin and Clayton, according to the release. He is the co-founder of Global Asset Advisors, a commodity futures brokerage and trading firm, where he has worked for the last 23 years. He currently serves as senior vice president and principal of the firm.
“I’m pleased to be considered for the position of Glen Ellyn village trustee and hope to have the opportunity to serve the residents of Glen Ellyn in such an important role," Burket said in the release.
The Jan. 13 meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane St.
