Dangerously low temperatures and a wind chill that could reach 35 below zero are closing most west suburban school district for a second day in a row on Tuesday.

Many area school districts are making the decision to close schools Tuesday as dangerously cold temperatures are expected to persist, including Morton High School in Berwyn and Cicero; Lyons Township High School in La Grange and Western Springs; and Riverside Brookfield High School in Riverside.

While a high of 10 degrees is expected Tuesday, about 20 degrees warmer than Monday's high, wind chills could reach as low as 35 below zero with winds at 10 to 20 mph.

Parents are being informed of the closings via automated calling services, email and messages on school district websites. Most area schools were closed Monday due to the extreme cold.

Lyons Township High announced it would be closed on Tuesday due to extream weather conditions. The school reminded parents and students that it planned to be open on Wednesday, which is a late arrival day, and classes would start at 8:45 a.m. as originally scheduled.
