Prep roundup: Broncos hit the road looking for win over Guerin

Montini’s boys basketball team lost a pair of home games last weekend. Marian Central defeated the Broncos 78-67 on Jan. 3, and Reavis left Lombard with a 62-53 victory a day later. Montini returns to action at 7 p.m. tonight against host Guerin.



The Warriors were scheduled to play Hoffman Estates on Tuesday, but the game was canceled due to cold weather.

They play at West Suburban Gold rival Downers Grove South at 7:30 p.m. tonight.



The Lady Broncos had no trouble with Rosary on Jan. 3. Montini cruised to a 75-28 victory. Next up is a game against St. Edward on Jan. 14.

The Blazers picked up their first West Suburban Gold win of the season on Saturday. AT beat Leyden 51-39 with 17 points coming from Connie Barkoulies and 13 from Rachel Baumgartner. The Blazers are now 4-13 and 1-5 in the Gold and host Hinsdale South in a WSG game at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow.


The Warriors had Tuesday’s scheduled game against Glenbard East postponed due to the cold weather that closed both schools, but they did pick up a big West Suburban Gold win on Saturday. Molly Krawczykowski had 18 points to lead the Warriors against Hinsdale South. Olivia Domin scored 10 points. Melissa Rader dominated the glass with a game-high 15 rebounds to go with nine points.



The Broncos traveled up to Kaukauna, Wis., for the Cheesehead Invitational and won the tournament. Montini had three individual champions: Tommy Pawelski (113 pounds), Chris Garcia (138) and Edgar Ruano (220). Jake Turk was second at 182 pounds.
