Schools announce Tuesday closings in central DuPage County as extreme cold persists

Many area school districts are making the early decision to close schools Tuesday as dangerously cold temperatures are expected to persist.

While a high of 10 degrees is expected Tuesday, about 20 degrees warmer than Monday's high, wind chills could reach as low as -35 with winds at 10 to 20 mph.

Parents are being informed of the closings via automated calling services, email and messages on school district websites. Most area schools were closed Monday due to the extreme cold.

Here's a local rundown of school closures for Tuesday:

Glen Ellyn: Districts 87, 89, 41 (all closed)

Wheaton: District 200 (closed)

West Chicago: District 33, 94, 25 (all closed)

Carol Stream: Districts 87, 93 U-46, 25 (all closed)
