Frigid temps close local schools on Monday, Tuesday

Another round of snow and some of the coldest temperatures of the last 30 years closed many west suburban school districts on Monday and Tuesday.

Parents were informed via automated calling services, email and messages on school district websites.

Temperatures hit 16 below zero on Monday, with a dangerous wind chill of 45 below zero and winds as strong as 20 to 30 mph. Tuesday is forecast to be equally as chilly.

Here's a local rundown of school closures:

Downers Grove: District 99 (closed Monday and Tuesday), District 58 (closed Monday and Tuesday), District 66 (closed Monday and Tuesday)

Westmont: District 201 (closed Monday and Tuesday), District 60 (closed Monday and Tuesday)

Woodridge: District 68 (closed Monday and Tuesday)

Lisle: District 202 (closed Monday and Tuesday)

Bolingbrook: District 365U (closed Monday and Tuesday)
