HINSDALE – The holiday break for Hinsdale Township High School District 86 students could be extended into next week.

In an email sent out to the community, District 86 informed parents that school officials are "closely monitoring" the freezing temperatures expected Monday, which could reach 11 below.

According to the email, District 86 looks at the following factors when determining whether or not to stay open:

• Visibility and street conditions in Hinsdale

• Functioning of buses

• Buildings mechanically functioning, and the conditions of District 86 parking lots and grounds

The community will be notified via email on Sunday if a decision is made to cancel school. The information will also be posted on the District 86 website at hinsdale86.org.
