BROOKFIELD – Lyons Township High School students and families have come together to raise almost $5,000 for two Brookfield families that lost all of their possessions in a recent house fire.

The house, located in the 4300 block of Blanchan Avenue, was home to the family of a current LT freshman and the family of a former LT student. Upon receiving the news, LT students, their families and faculty began collecting clothing and money for the families, partially via the fundraising website www.giveforward.com. As of Dec. 23, $4,600 had been collected on the site.

To make a donation, go to https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/yln3/helping-an-lt-family-rebuild-aft.

For more information about donating, contact LT administrative assistant Melinda Edwards at 708-579-6305. Edwards will be checking her phone messages during the holiday break and ask that people leave their name and number if interested in donating.

Edwards said the families that were living in the house are currently staying with relatives.
