Pedestrian hit by train Friday in Glen Ellyn dies

GLEN ELLYN – A pedestrian hit by an eastbound Metra train in Glen Ellyn shortly after 2 p.m. Friday has died, according to a Glen Ellyn Police Department news release.

Daniel Carrillo, 25, most recently from Tucson, Ariz., was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he died Friday night from injuries sustained in the incident, the release stated.

Witnesses told the Glen Ellyn Police Department that Carrillo was crossing northbound from the south side of the train tracks at Main Street when the gates were down, Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer said.

The gates and lights were working properly, according to a previous police department news release.

Glen Ellyn paramedics transported the pedestrian to Good Samaritan Hospital after the incident, which remains under investigation, the release stated.
