CAROL STREAM – A convicted murderer is charged with two felonies after a four-month investigation by the Carol Stream Police Department, according to a department news release.

Leamon E. Jordan, 57, of the 300 block of Wexford Court, Carol Stream, was charged Dec. 20 with presence within 500 feet of a child day care home by a child sex offender and failure to register as a violent offender against youth, the release said.

Jordan was convicted of kidnapping and murdering a child in 1982 in Cook County and therefore must register as an offender, according to the release.

The investigation was initiated when a Carol Stream detective became aware of the possibility that Jordan was living in the area unregistered, the release said. Probable cause was developed to obtain a search warrant and a search was executed the day Jordan was charged, at which time personal property and evidence of his residing at the Carol Stream address were seized from the home.

Jordan was processed and transported to the DuPage County Jail to await a bond hearing, according to the release.
