LOMBARD – Glenbard East made a run in the fourth quarter to cut into Glenbard North's 13-point halftime, and then Panthers turned to senior Chip Flanigan to close out the game.
Flanigan scored 15 of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter of the Panthers' 73-61 win at Glenbard East Friday night.
North (6-1, 3-0 DuPage Valley Conference) jumped ahead 16-9 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 33-20 at halftime, but the Rams fought back in the second half. An 8-0 run by the Rams in the fourth quarter, sparked by seven points from senior Jaron Hall, cut the Panther lead to 59-54 with 3:35 remaining in the game.
Flanigan scored 13 points from that point on to secure the victory.
Jeremiah Fleming had 15 points on five three-pointers. Justin Jackson contributed 11 points for North.
Sophomore Patrick Peterkin led East (2-7, 0-3 DVC) with 23 points. Jaron Hall had 20, 11 in the fourth quarter.
"We cut it to five while making a lot of mistakes so we just got to correct some of those things," Glenbard East coach Scott Miller said. “We at least got ourselves in a position where we exposed some of their weaknesses and gave ourselves a chance and that’s all you ask for.”
