Althoff: 2014 to kick off with host of Lisle Chamber events

We are finishing another year with the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce.

We appreciate all the support from the community and thank Ryan Terrell, News Editor for Lisle Suburban Life, for the opportunity to spread the word about our programs and the Village of Lisle.

I also want to thank Paula Gleason of Bensidoun USA for her leadership as Chair of our Board of Directors. We have had a great year under her leadership. Kudos also goes to Dan Garvy, Director of the Lisle Park District, for his years of service. He is leaving the board after six years of dedicated support, one of which was as Board Chair.

Looking ahead to January we are pleased to partner with the Downers Grove, Darien, Westmont and Woodridge chambers for a State of the County luncheon with Chairman Dan Cronin. The event will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 11:30 a.m. at Seven Bridges Golf Club in Woodridge.

All are welcome to attend. Please check our website to register.

Later in the month, on Thursday, Jan. 16, Mayor Joseph Broda will be giving his State of the Village address. We are pleased to sponsor this luncheon, which will be held at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville at 11:30 a.m. You can register for this luncheon through our website as well.

On Monday, Jan. 20, the College of DuPage and Benedictine University will sponsor the annual Martin Luther King breakfast. We encourage everyone to attend this huge commemorative event. Please register early because it is usually a sellout. To register one needs to go through the College of DuPage at

In early February, the Lisle Chamber presents Dancing with the Chamber Stars.

This annual event features amateur dancers paired with professional instructors who prepare for this exciting event. It includes a silent auction to benefit the Chamber along with a gourmet dinner and beverages and entertainment. It is truly a highlight of the year.

The theme this year is Luau in Lisle. It is an event that should not be missed. The date is Friday, Feb. 7 and the location is the Hilton Lisle/Naperville. More information will be found on the chamber website as well.

So that is a preview of what is coming in January and February. We would like to wish all the readers a very Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year!

Tom Althoff is president and CEO of the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce.
